I have been looking for a doctor to help with this problems for 10 months. Most of them told me nothing could be done about my symptoms. I was distraught almost everyday and my quality of life was terrible. Now that I have Dr. Eliason, I feel confident and optimistic. I was beginning to think that no one could help me. I am so grateful for his attentive care!

Dr Eliason is incredible. He is intelligent, kind, keeps on message, and so dang humble. He has the ability to make a uncomfortable type of appointment, very comfortable and like 2 friends just having a conversation. Frankly, due to his own medical history, he has the ability to understand patients in a way other providers do not. He understands exactly what it is like to have an invisible disease, and how it feels to have one's sickness, symptoms, and emotions invalidated by a "normal" test result. He understands that being in remission does not always equate to not being free of symptoms, and clinically in remission does not mean one just returned to life pre-diagnosis. I have an admitted insecurity towards trusting GIs, after so many years having my symptoms dismissed when the GI could not solve the Crohn's and Gastroparesis puzzle that I present. I have built up a wall to not allow another GI to hurt me, when I come in presenting major symptoms, GI bleeding, and daily vomiting, only to be told it was IBS or something in my head, because my blood results were normal. My primary care has figured out that I don't always show inflammation in my blood, but few other GIs were willing to look beyond what the standard is, despite medical journals showing a genre of people that do not always exhibit accurate blood testing for inflammation. Dr Eliason listened to both my primary care and to me, and took the testing to fecal and other forms, combined with medical history and clinical symptoms. Through this, he found major inflammation was occurring in my GI tract, which had showed normal on CRP, Bit exhibited inflammation on the fetal blood inflammation levels. He also found that my liver was much more diseased than previous GIs suspected, and may be saving my life by earlier intervention. I appreciate that so much and for the first time in a long time, I feel like I am not only being listened to, but also have a GI who is not afraid to care for me, long term.

My perception is that between the colonoscopy and this visit, 5 days apart, that attention and performance were subpar. For colonoscopy, sample was to be taken - it wasn't as far as I can tell and Eric said to have another in 3 years (also in printed discharge orders); staff called next day to say it was 5 years. Follow-up check (phone call from staff) on colonoscopy found me In significant pain that started shortly after procedure; hearing this they said it couldn't be; nevertheless it continued for several days. My overall feeling is one of little to no confidence and as a [...] cancer survivor, at least for now, that is a major concern for this specialty.
