8 years ago, I was on long-term disability after years of working with chronic pain and illness. I was at the end of my rope after trying everything and anything. But then I learned about the relationship between stress, burnout, trauma, pain and illness and what happens in our body when we've been exposed to too much for too long (or too much too fast). After a lot of work and training in neuroscience, somatics and trauma-informed practices, I now live a completely different life.Sharing my story has been one of the hardest parts of launching Awarely Embodied Leadership. But I do it to show people that even in the complexities of our modern workplace, there's another way to lead (and live). This is #embodiedleadership ----I've learned the lessons, so you don't have to. I'm on a mission to empower leaders to build capacity for the modern workplace through embodied leadership coaching, training and consulting. Curious? Send me a DM.

🧠 Ever noticed how the human brain struggles with the concept of 'don't'? It's a fascinating quirk of our psychology that has profound implications in the business world, especially in leadership.Studies show that when leaders frame objectives in positive, action-oriented terms rather than prohibitions, teams respond more effectively. This is because our brains are wired to process and follow positive instructions more efficiently than negative ones. For instance, instead of saying 'Don't miss the deadline,' reframe it to 'Let's aim to complete this ahead of schedule.' This subtle shift in language can dramatically alter perception, motivation, and outcomes.#LeadershipDevelopment #PositivePsychology #TeamMotivation #BusinessStrategy

ecisions.🔹 Adaptability: Biles adjusts mid-air, much like how effective leaders pivot when faced with unexpected challenges.🔹 Confidence: Her self-assurance allows her to take risks, reminiscent of how strong leaders inspire trust and drive innovation.🔹 Resilience: She continues with grace after tough landings - a reminder that setbacks are part of any journey to success.🔹 Self-awareness: Biles' decision to step back from competition to focus on her mental health showcases the importance of self-care and knowing when to recharge. Great leaders recognize when they need to step back to come back stronger.🔹 Courage: It takes immense bravery to prioritize wellbeing over expectations, especially on a global stage. True leaders have the courage to make difficult decisions, even when faced with public scrutiny. What leadership lessons have you drawn from unexpected sources? How do you balance performance with self-care in your leadership journey?hashtag#Leadership hashtag#MentalHealth hashtag#SimoneBiles hashtag#SelfAwareness hashtag#DecisionMaking

More aligned not more work. And this doesn’t mean work harder.🔥The problem isn’t that we’re not working hard enough. It’s that we’re not working on the right things; things that are deeply aligned with our natural inclinations and truth.Society and culture dictate ‘what good looks like’ and we fall into the trap and fall into line. The noisy cries of ‘shoulda… coulda… woulda… ’ on our internal radio mean it’s hard to hear our quiet voice of true and we end up doing what we’re ‘supposed’ to do, meeting external expectations and living and leading in obligation. All driven by the forces of trauma and socialization.💠So rather than focusing on what you think you want or need to achieve, allow some stillness for you to feel what it is you yearn for, to listen to your quiet voice of the leader you know is true you. It’s from that awareness we make choices about how we show up moment to moment and what we do with intention. And I reckon that’s what good leadering looks like.📱Are you looking for practical, evidence-based, ways to level up your leadership?
