Job DescriptionThe Project Engineer II is responsible for managing all aspects of sustaining engineering activities and Cost improvement Projects (CIP) to enhance existing product designs and processes. This role involves directing and coordinating a project team in planning, organizing, implementing, and completing engineering projects focused on product improvements and process optimization. Duties may be performed personally or through other project team members.

This position will serve our Raypak Division, located in Oxnard, CA.

Responsibilities

• Use the Product Development Process to achieve project objectives. Serve as a liaison with departmental contacts to gain necessary input and effectively communicate project status through scheduled reviews and reports.
• Provide detailed test programs and guidance to lab and design personnel. Evaluate data and make recommendations based on test results.
• Ensure product design complies with engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements, and related specifications.
• Oversee technical developments, schedule tasks, and resolve engineering design and test problems.
• Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
• Travel as needed for agency certification, reviewing field installations, attending meetings, etc.
• Develop, implement, and maintain improvements to existing product designs. Ensure improved designs meet requirements for cost, process capability, safety, customer service, and reliability.
• Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing departments to provide engineering support, CAD modeling, simulation, drafting, and prototypes for product improvements.
• Apply tolerance analysis to designs to ensure proper fit and function.
• Properly document design improvements to support purchasing, production control, and manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with at least 3 years of related experience
• Demonstrated experience with a CAD design package such as Creo, SOLIDWORKS
• Working knowledge of UL/CSA requirements, engineering/manufacturing change processes
• Excellent communication, coordination, and presentation skills for interface with coworkers, managers, and customers
• Computer skills necessary to perform the above functions are required. Proficiency with basic Office Suite and other productivity tools

How To Stand Out

• Advanced degree in Engineering
• Experience with heat exchanger and pressure vessel design and ASME requirements preferred.
• Proficiency in analysis tools (e.g ANSYS/Mechanical, Abaqus, etc)
• Hands-on product design/testing/service of gas combustion products.
